How to Identify Lack and Scarcity
BeliefsYour beliefs are the underlying guidance system for your life. Whatever you
believe to be true is what you will continue to gravitate toward - even without your conscious
awareness!
For example, if you believe that you cannot earn more than a certain amount of
money, you will subconsciously choose situations that reinforce such a belief. You will get a job that only
pays that amount. Or you will block money from coming to you in other ways. If, by chance, you do manage to
attract more money from another source, you will subconsciously create circumstances that require the use of
the extra money so you are set back to your original money threshold again.
The biggest challenge in dealing with limiting financial beliefs is that they
usually reside below your conscious level of awareness. You may have a vague feeling that something isn't
right, but you don't know exactly what.
Instead, you keep bumping up against obstacles in your day to day experiences.
You'll set goals to make more money or achieve a greater level of success, and then do everything in your
power to sabotage your efforts. You'll yearn for an easier way of life, but keep insisting that hard work is
the only way to get where you want to be (despite seeing with your own eyes that hard work will only get you
so far!).
Identifying limiting beliefs about money is easy once you know how.
The first step is to make a list of statements that you suspect are true. For
example:
- Making money is hard work.
- I have a lot of financial blockages.
- I can't seem to get ahead no matter what I do.
- My life is filled with struggle.
- Other people have it easy; I have it hard.
- I'll probably never be successful or lucky.
- I want to do better, but I don't know how.
Once you have a list of statements written down, read each one out loud and then
consider how you feel about what you just said. Do the words resonate with you? Do you feel a sense of defeat
or agreement with them? You'll probably discover that they ring true for you emotionally, even if logically
you know that they are not exactly accurate.
Now for contrast, write a list of statements that you want to be true. For
example:
- I make money easily.
- I always have plenty of money.
- I make a lot of money doing work I love.
- I pay my bills easily each month.
- I am successful.
- I am wealthy.
- I am the luckiest person I know.
Now read each of these statements out loud and notice how you feel after you say
it. Do you feel uncomfortable? Do you feel angry or frustrated? Do you feel like you are lying?
If any "negative" emotions come up, it's a clear sign that you do NOT believe what
you just said.
Why is this important to know?
Because if you want to begin attracting more money into your life, you will have
to clear those negative beliefs! Ideally you want to be at the place where reading those positive statements
rings true for you, just like the negative statements a few minutes ago did.
You need to get to the point where you can easily believe that you are wealthy,
abundant, lucky, and successful. Once you have made that inner shift, everything in your outer circumstances
will SHIFT to match your inner beliefs.
